Mark Bonnar (born 19 November 1968, Edinburgh) is a Scottish actor who is best known for playing Bruno Jenkins in Casualty. He also acted in Afterlife, Taggart, and Wire in the Blood. He appeared in Nuclear Secrets. He appeared as criminal Ray Moore in The Bill in 2007. In 2009, he starred in the BBC One series Paradox.[1] In 2010 he portrayed Don in episode 5 of E4 comedy PhoneShop.

Career

His theatre performances include Bosala in The Duchess of Malfi at the Old Vic, London (2012);[2] Philistines at the Lyttelton, National Theatre in May 2007; Phil in Mammals, a national tour in 2006; David in A Girl In A Car With A Man at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs in December 2004; Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing at the Salisbury Playhouse in September 2004; Cyrano de Bergerac at the National Theatre in 2004 and Parade at the Donmar Warehouse in September 2007.

Bonnar also starred in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries in 2007 in an episode titled "Know Thine Enemy". In 2011 he played Detective Inspector Finney in Psychoville and the role of 'Jimmy' in the Doctor Who episodes "The Rebel Flesh" and "The Almost People". In 2013, he played the role of Duncan Hunter in the two-part BBC mini-series Shetland.[3]

Bonnar provides the voice and motion of Edward "Blackbeard" Thatch in the 2013 video game Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.[4]

In 2014, Bonnar played Deputy Chief Constable Mike Dryden in the second season of British crime drama, Line Of Duty.

In 2015 he starred opposite Sharon Horgan and American comedian Rob Delaney in Catastrophe, a six-part comedy series for the British Channel 4 that aired in the UK from 19 January 2015. In the same year he appeared as William Carnarvon in ITV's Midsomer Murders episode 17.4 "A Vintage Murder".

Personal life

He married Casualty actress Lucy Gaskell on 28 December 2007. Their first child, Martha, was born in July 2011.
