Marisa (given name)

Marisa is a feminine given name. Like the given name Marissa, the name is derived from the Latin maris, meaning "of the sea."[1] The name is also a Spanish or Italian contracted familiar nickname for Maria Isabel (Mary Elizabeth) or Maria Luisa (Mary Louise, 'Mary-Lou').

In Italy, Marisa was particularly popular in the 1930s: it is among the 20 most popular names for girls born between 1933 and 1939.[2] In 1931 Marisa is at the third place of the most common names for girls born in Rome.[3]
