Marina Kaljurand

Kaljurand presents her credentials to Russian President Vladimir Putin in February 2006.

Marina Kaljurand (born 6 September 1962 in Tallinn as Marina Rajevskaja) is an Estonian diplomat (though notably not of Estonian heritage, her father being of Latvian descent and the mother Russian).[1]

She was the ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the United States and Mexico (non-resident) until September, 2014. She has previously been appointed ambassador to Kazakhstan (2007-2011 non-resident), Russian Federation (2005-2008) and Israel (2004-2006 non-resident) and Canada (non-resident, 2011-2013).[2]

On 31 December 2007, Eesti Naiste Koostöökett voted Kaljurand the Teenäitaja (lit. 'Guide') of the year. Kaljurand's continued adherence to European political traditions in face of severe threats amidst the Nashi campaign was cited as a deciding factor.
