Marie Lora-Mungai

Marie Lora-Mungai is a Media Entrepreneur and producer. She founded and heads Buni Media, a multimedia production company with offices in Nairobi and Los Angeles; and Buni TV.

Education

Marie holds a masters in Political Sciences from France. She also has a masters degree in Marketing and Communication from ESCP Business School.

Life and career

Lora-Mungai is the Executive Producer of The XYZ Show, a popular political satire show that won the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best TV Series.^[1] She is also the creator of Ogas at the Top, a similar political satire program in Nigeria; Once Upon a Time,^[2] a children series about ancient African history, the Buni TV Comedy Series, a pan-African improvisation comedy show, and The Trade, a TV crime drama series set in the world of the West African drug trade.

Before becoming an entrepreneur, Lora-Mungai had a first career as a television journalist for CNN, Reuters TV, AFP TV and the BBC World Service. She handled projects on public speaking, film festivals, African media, rewriting the African story, and the power of mobile video to revolutionize the way content is being distributed and consumed on the continent.

In 2013 she was named a Rising Talent by the Women's Global Forum, and one of the "30 Women Who Matter" by L'Express magazine.^[3]

Lora-Mungai and her business partner Tendeka Matatu announced the launch of their company Restless Talent Management in Cannes 2014.^[4]
