Mariano Díaz Mejía (born 1 August 1993), simply known as Mariano, is a Dominican international footballer who plays for Real Madrid Castilla in Spain, as a forward.

Club career

Born in Barcelona, Mariano started his youth career with local RCD Espanyol, and appeared for lowly Premià de Mar and Fundaciò Sánchez Llibre. In 2009 he joined CF Badalona, and made his senior debuts in the 2011–12 season, in Segunda División B. Shortly after Mariano signed with Real Madrid, returning to youth football.

In August 2012 he was promoted to the Madrilenian's C-team also in the third level; on 18 January 2014 Mariano made his professional debut, appearing with the reserves in a 1–2 home loss against Sporting de Gijón, for the Segunda División championship.[2]

International career

Mariano is eligible for Dominican Republic through his mother, a native of San Juan de la Maguana, despite being born in Spain.

He made his international debut on 24 March 2013, in a friendly against Haiti, and scored the last of a 3–1 victory.[3]
