Mariana Avitia Martínez (born September 18, 1993 in Monterrey, Nuevo León) is an athlete from Mexico who competes in archery.

2008 Summer Olympics

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing Avitia finished her ranking round with a total of 641 points. This gave her the 20th seed for the final competition bracket in which she faced Son Hye-Yong in the first round, beating the archer from North Korea with 112-107. In the second round she was too strong for Malgorzata Cwienczek with 110-109 and via Khatuna Narimanidze (109-108) she achieved her place in the quarter final. There she was eliminated by Kwon Un-Sil with 105-99.[1]

2012 Summer Olympics

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London Avitia won the bronze medal in the women's individual archery event. Teammate Aída Román won the silver medal. Together they were the first ever to win an archery Olympic medal for Mexico.
