Maria Elena Boschi (Italian pronunciation: [maˈriːa ˈɛːlena ˈbɔski]; born 24 January 1981) is an Italian lawyer and politician.

She has been Minister of Constitutional Reforms since 22 February 2014.[3]

Biography

Maria Elena Boschi was born in Montevarchi, Arezzo in 1981. Her father Pierluigi was he vice-president of "Banca Popolare dell'Etruria e del Lazio". Boschi graduated in Law at the University of Florence with a vote 110 and became a lawyer specialising in company law. She was on the board of directors of Publiacqua, a public utility in Tuscany, until June 2013.[4]

In 2008 Boschi joined the Democratic Party and she is close to Michele Ventura, candidate to the primary election for Mayor of Florence, member of the political faction of Massimo D'Alema.[5]

In 2011 she became a close advisor of Matteo Renzi, at the time Mayor of Florence, coordinating his campaign for the 2012 centre-left primary election.[6]

She was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies in the 2013 general election and is on the national board of the Democratic Party.
