Marcelo dos Santos Ferreira (born 27 July 1989) is a Brazilian professional footballer playing for Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga as a defender.
Club career
After failing to achieve success in Brazil with the hands of Vasco da Gama and Rio Preto, Marcelo tried his luck in Portugal with Portuguese Second Division club Ribeirão.
In 2011, he signed for Rio Ave of the Primeira Liga.[1] He spent that season on loan at Leixões. However, in his first season with the parent club in Primeira Liga, he won the club's Player of the year award.[2]
