Manyema

Manyema (Una-Ma-Nyema, eaters of flesh), a powerful and, in the past, warlike Bantu people in the southeast of the Congo basin and in the Kigoma region of Western Tanzania.

In Tanzania they include various sub tribes, including the Wabwari, Wamasanze, Wabembe. In the 20th century, they have made considerable contribution in fields such as soccer, music and politics .

Manyema, or Maniema, was for the greater part of the 19th century a target of the Arab slave raiders.[1]:67,94-96
