Mankulam is a village in Idukki district [1] in the Indian state of Kerala.[2] The village is located 32 km from Adimaly, Idukki, Kerala. Most of the inhabitants came from the Central Trvancore area, Kerala during the time of encroachment in early 1970s.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census, Mankulam had a population of 9607 with 4920 males and 4687 females.[2]

At the time of Poonjar Raja (King of Poonjar), the East India Company begin rubber cultivation plantations earlier 18th and 19th centuries at Anakulam (Mankulam). Anakkulam is famous as a wild elephant gathering place. The elephants drink water from a stream, and people can watch from 5 to 15 metres away. In India there may be only one place that has three climates: A cold climate with the cultivation of cardamom, coffee and tea; a mixed climate with the cultivation of pepper, nutmeg, arrac nut/betel nut, coffee, coco, and coconut; and a hot and humid climate with the cultivation of rubber.
This is a naturally beautiful village near to Munnar. Majority of the people are depended on agriculture and allied activities for their livelihood.
