Mankjur al-Farghani
Mankjur al-Farghani, was a 9th-century Iranian general who served the Abbasids. He was native to Ushrusana, and was the cousin of the prominent Abbasid general Khaydhar ibn Kawus al-Afshin, thus belonging to the ruling family of Ushrusana. Mankjur accompanied Afshin in his campaign against the Khurramite Babak Khorramdin, and was later appointed as governor of Azerbaijan by him. However, in 840, Mankjur, after refusing to give the caliph some of Babak's booty, revolted against him. Afshin shortly sent Abi'l-Saj Devdad to suppress the revolt of Mankjur. Not achieving any decisive result, the caliph sent Bugha al-Kabir against him, who managed to suppress his revolt and have him killed. According to some historians, Mankjur, like Babak Khorramdin, was an adherent of the Khurramite sect.
