Manheru

Manheru is the largest village in Bhiwani district, Haryana state, India. Manheru shares its boundaries with the Madhumadhvi, Nangal, Dheraru and Hindol villages. The village has railway stations on the Hissar-Jaipur track broad-gauge line of the North Central Railway.

Geography

Geographically Manheru is situated at (28°42'30"N; 76°13'12"E) and is about 12.0 km South-East of Bhiwani city in Haryana. It has an average elevation of about 220 m. Much like the rest of India, the people of Manheru rely on the ground water for their basic needs which is the gift of good monsoon season. But majority of the groundwater is saline. The climate of Manheru can be classified as tropical steppe, hot semi-arid which is mainly characterized by the extreme dryness of the air except during monsoon months. During three months of south west monsoon from last week of June to September, the moist air of oceanic penetrate into the village and causes high humidity, cloudiness and monsoon rainfall. T

The period from October to December constitutes post monsoon season. The cold weather season prevails from January to the beginning of March and followed by the hot weather or summer season which prevails up to the last week of June.

Geologically the area is almost plain and is on the tail of the Aravalli range which is the oldest fold mountains in India. Majorly the pain area is covered with the alluvial sand of good fertility for crop. Seismically the area falls in zone-3 creating low damage risk from earthquakes.

The village is primarily residential and cover 5,000-7,000 persons reside here. The Village was the sight of many events that changed the course of history, both in Bhiwani district and Haryana State and the Nation.

History

Specifically, the Village played an active role in politics and espousing the defence (Army / Navy & Air Force) of the India. It’s a proud for all of us including me on achievement in sports and in army we had done in the past. The village has also carved its niche in Political history by being nationally recognized as the birthplace of Sh. Banarsi Das Gupta (Ex-Chief Minister Haryana). He was renowned freedom Fighter and went to jail many times during the British rule. He established Parja Mandal in erstwhile Jind State in pre-independence period and launched agitation for establishment of a responsible Government in Jind State and was imprisoned several times. He undertook several padyatras, collected thousands of acres of land and distributed it among the landless during the Bhoodan Movement. He fought against traditional social abuses such as the dowry system, untouchability, and child marriage. He stood for widow re-marriage rights and started the tradition of community-marriages without dowry.

He was founder of the All India Vaish Federation (Vais Maha Sammelan); Foounder and Patron of the Maharaj Agrasen Medical Education & Scientific Research Society, Haryana, Trustee of Vaish Mahavidyalaya Trust which runs (i) Vaish Senior Secondary School and (ii) Vaish Model School, Founder and Trustee and Member of Haryana Prakritik Chikitsalaya, President of Managing Committee of (i) Vaish P.G. Boy's College, (ii) Adarsh Mahila Mahavidyalaya (also founder of this institute) and (iii) and Chief Patron of All India Agarwal Sammelan. He was thrice elected to the Haryana Legislative Assembly and served once as its speaker. He was a minister for several years and served once as Deputy Chief Minister and twice as Chief Minister of Haryana. His terms as chief minister were from 1975 to 1977, and for a few months in 1990. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1996. During his tenure as Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) he was appreciated by parliament for best use of MPLAD (aid given through Members of Parliament for the benefit of the public).

The Village has many government edifices for the facilities of peoples, like hospital for mankind and for cattle too, banks and water works for smooth water supply. The village has consecrated with BalaJi temple, this too is popular nearby areas.
