Mamunul Islam Mamun (born 12 December 1988) is a Bangladeshi international footballer who plays as a midfielder for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and the Bangladesh national football team. He is also captain of the Bangladesh national team. Mamunul has won four league championship for two different clubs.

Career

Abahani Limited (Dhaka)

Mamunul started his career in Abahani Limited (Dhaka) as a central midfielder. He was brought from Abahani's youth academy. He played two seasons for Abahani, 2008-09 and 2009-10. Abahani became the league champion in both seasons.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club

Mamunul went to Sheikh Jamal form Abhani at 2010-11 season. At first season Sheikh Jamal became the league champion. Mamunul played another season for the club.

Mohammedan Sporting Club (Dhaka)

At 2012-13 season Mamunul played for Mohammedan Sporting Club (Dhaka).

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club

2013-14 season Mamunul returned to Sheikh Jamal. Sheikh Jamal became the league champion again under Mamunul's captaincy.

Indian Super League

Mamunul played in the first season of Indian Super League for Atlético de Kolkata, he went to the club for 3 months loan from Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.[2] He is the only South Asian player outside India who played in the first season of the league. He impressed Indian football fans in 2014 IFA Shield by taking Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club(one of three foreign clubs participating in the tournament) to the finals. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club received multiple offers for his transfer from Indian clubs. But Mamunul didn't get any chance to play in ISL. He was too upset about it and said that, he won't play in the next season for Kolkata if, Antonio López Habas stays as the coach.
