Malus hupehensis, common names Hupeh crab or tea crabapple, is a species of flowering plant in the apple genus Malus of the family Rosaceae, native to Japan and Taiwan. It is a vigorous deciduous tree growing to 12 m (39 ft) tall and broad, with pink buds opening to fragrant white blossom in Spring, and bright red, cherry-sized crab-apples in the Autumn.[1] It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.[2]
