Mallotus fuscescens is a species of plant in the Euphorbiaceae family. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
opposite or alternate, oval-oblong, base acute to rounded, shortly acuminate apex.
Trunk
young parts glabrous, glandular.
Flowers
pale green, shortly stalked, crowded; I- male rufous-pubescent, axillary and terminal spikes. Inflorescence- female lax racemes on long peduncles.
Fruits
glabrous, somewhat glandular capsules.
Ecology
rain forest fringes and gaps, secondary forest of wet zone of Sri Lanka.
