Malaba, Uganda is a town in Tororo District, Eastern Uganda, on Uganda's eastern border with Kenya.
Location
The town is located on the main highway between Kampala and Nairobi, approximately 232 kilometres (144 mi), by road, east of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.[2] It sits across the International border with Kenya, adjacent to its similarly named sister town of Malaba, Kenya. The coordinates of the town are:00°38′40″N, 34°15′38″E (Latitude:0.644444; Longitude:34.260556).
Overview
Malaba, Uganda, is a market town 6 miles (9.7 km) southeast of the town of Tororo. The railway also crosses the border between Uganda and Kenya at Malaba.
Malaba is a busy crossing point between Uganda and Kenya on their common border. The town of Busia, 46 kilometres (29 mi) to the south of Malaba is also a very busy crossing point between the two countries. In 2005, Malaba, Uganda, was the second-busiest border crossing between Uganda and Kenya, based on volume of exports and imports.[3] See table below:

Population
The national census in 2002 estimated the population of the town at about 7,600. In 2010 the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) estimated the town's population at 9,200. In 2011, UBOS estimated the population of Malaba, Uganda at approximately 9,500.[4] During the 2014 national population census, the population of Malaba, Uganda was enumerated at 18,224.[1]
