Malaba, Kenya is a town in Busia County, Western Province, on Kenya's western border with Uganda.
Location
The town is located on the main Nairobi-Kampala highway, approximately 477 kilometres (296 mi), by road, west of Nairobi.[1] It sits across the International border with Uganda, adjacent to its similarly named sister town of Malaba, Uganda.
A metre gauge railway also crosses the border at this point. The nearby town of Busia is also a busy border post. A proposed new standard gauge railway from Mombasa would pass through this town. [2]
Malaba was the main town of the defunct Teso District (though not the capital). It had a population of 7,302 according to the 1999 census.[3]
