Mal Blum

Mal Blum (born 1988) is an American songwriter and performer from New York who has released four full length albums.[1] The most recent, "Tempest In A Teacup," released in May 2013,[2] is a collection of nine songs.[3][4]

Critics often remark on Blum's strength as a lyricist.[5][6] Blum spent the majority of 2010-2013 promoting self-booked national solo tours[7] and has supported artists such as Mike Doughty,[8] Melissa Ferrick,[9] Jenny Owen Youngs,[10] Amanda Palmer,[11] Jeffrey Lewis,[12]

Mal Blum is a recurring musical guest on The Chris Gethard Show.[13][14] and has had music featured on Logo TV's The Click List: Top 10 Videos and NewNowNext Music[15] In 2014, Mal Blum signed to Don Giovanni records and announced they would be working on a new album produced by Marissa Paternoster.[16] Before that point, they had never worked with a record label and fan-funded the recording costs for "Tempest in A Teacup".[17]

Blum has contributed non-musical written work to Autostraddle[18] and Huffington Post.[19]

Blum attended State University of New York at Purchase.
