Makkah Clock Royal Tower Hotel

Makkah Clock Royal Tower is a luxury Fairmont Hotel and Resorts managed property in Makkah, the holy city in Saudi Arabia commonly referred to as Mecca. The hotel is part of the Abraj Al Bait complex and is one of the world’s tallest hotels at 76 stories tall and has 1,542 guest rooms, 10 restaurants, a spa, and fitness center.^[1] It is the closet hotel located to the Al-Masjid al-Haram and Ka'aba, the destination for many Muslims during the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The hotel is also located close to Abraj Al Bait Shopping Mall and other popular Saudi Arabia attractions. ^[2]

History

The hotel began construction in 2004 and officially opened on November 1, 2010. ^[3] The exterior and interior were designed by Richmond International, who specializes in international hospitality design . The main shareholders for the property include Kingdom Hotels International and Colony Capital LLC. The Makkah Clock Royal Tower is distinguished as the tallest hotel in the world and is connected to the Royal Clock Tower which features the largest clock face in the world. The hotel is the focal point of the Abraj Al Bait Complex which was constructed as part of the King Abdul Aziz Endowment.

Location

Makkah Clock Royal Tower has a central location adjacent to Al-Masjid al-Haram, the Holy Mosque. This is the destination for Muslims during the annual Hajj pilgrimage to the Ka’aba in Saudi Arabia. The hotel is also located close to Jabal Al Nour (Mountain of Light), Al Jamarat, Jabal Thawr, Qasr As-Saqqaf, Qasr Khozam, and the Abraj Al Bait Shopping Mall.^[4]
