Make It Pop is a K-Pop inspired musical comedy series that currently airs on Nickelodeon in the United States and YTV in Canada. It premiered on Nickelodeon on April 6, 2015. The first season consists of 20 episodes. On May 1st, Make It Pop was renewed for a second season.

Plot

Make It Pop follows three girls in boarding school – Sun Hi Song, Jodi Mappa, and Corki Chang- who, with the help of their DJ friend Caleb Davis, form a high school K-pop band called XO-IQ, and find music, mischief, love, and friendship.

The girls not knowing Caleb was finished or even started making the stage the girls got to the roller rink and found nothing and get mad a Caleb.

Sun Hi loses her voice, but Sun Hi's encourages them to have the show go on. Having a small turnout they will perform anyway. Caleb waiting outside hoping more people will come, the whole school came to Club Ry Ri because they're quarterback sprain his ankle and they had to forfeit. With the entire club filled Corki is too afraid to go on without a disguise knowing that people will recognize her, so Jodi got her a mask. Jodi and Corki are about to go on stage and Sun Hi wishes them luck. Being afraid that Sun Hi couldn't perform with her friends her voice returns and they performed together. Ms. Diona came to end the concert and asked everyone to leave the club. She asked who is responsible and Caleb takes the blame.

The phone has a photo with girls and Corki holding the mask. Sun Hi crawled through the vents and dropped on into their room and obtain the phone. Eventually, Jared found out who Masked Girl was because he found the mask in the girls' room

The three girls take an aptitude test. Sun Hi, surprisingly, is found to be musically gifted. She prepares to transfer to a school for genius (gifted) students. Meanwhile, Valerie steals Corki's homecoming dress, and Jodi and Corki turn against each other. In the end, the homecoming dance is deemed cancelled.

Caleb persuades Sun Hi, Jodi and Corki to have a secret homecoming party at Club Ry Ri. Sun Hi sends a mass text message to all the students at the school to inform them of the secret homecoming party. Jodi and Corki are having a difficult time deciding on what is the perfect dress for each of them to wear at secret homecoming party. At the secret homecoming party, Jared forgives Corki for not telling him her Masked Girl secret. The principal of the MacKendrick Preparatory school finds out about the secret homecoming party at Club Ry Ri from a school cafeteria employee, but Mr. Stark convinces Ms. Diona to leave and punish them later. Jared and Corki had a little moment together, but then Corki's father calls and says he is coming for a visit.

It was the day of the school musical and orchestra tryouts. Caleb tries to persuade Sun Hi, Jodi and Corki to attend a radio interview. Caleb tells the girls that their band can become more publicly known to others outside of school. Corki is hesitant in doing so because her father is checking up on her school studies. This jeopardizes the attendance of the radio interview. Corki is afraid her father will not approve of her being in a band. When the interview of the girls and Caleb is posted to the Internet, the band's name is revealed to be XO-IQ, and Corki's father almost finds out Corki is in a band.

Jodi finds out that her fashion idol's shop is nearby from a text message she received on her cell phone. She goes to visit her fashion idol's shop. When Jodi arrives at the fashion idol's shop, she is mistaken for a model. Jodi is fitted with a new outfit and walks on a practice runway. Jodi makes a terrible first impression when talking to her fashion idol. Jodi gets stuck on a piece of clothing on a clothing rack and is accidentally locked inside a truck. Meanwhile, Corki's father watches over Corki by auditing Corki's classes. Sun Hi is worried that Jodi will not make it back in time for their next concert performance since she does not return. Sun Hi calls Jodi. Jodi tells Sun Hi she is locked inside a truck. Corki uses a GPS app on her cell phone to track Jodi's location. Caleb stalls Corki's father. Sun Hi and Corki free Jodi inside the locked truck by using a security app on Corki's cell phone. Sun Hi, Jodi and Corki make it to their concert performance at Club Ry Ri. Corki's father visits the concert performance at Club Ry Ri after seeing a concert poster on a school bulletin board. Corki's father sees Corki perform at Club Ry Ri. After the concert performance is over, Corki notices her father is there at Club Ry Ri. Corki is afraid that she will be sent back to China. Corki's father tells Corki he enjoyed the concert performance, and she is great at performing. Corki's father tells Corki to follow her dreams and approves of her being in the band of XO-IQ. The Theater Arts teacher posts the cast list for the school play on the school bulletin board. Jodi and Corki get parts in the school play. Sun Hi is shocked that she did not get a part in the school play.

Sun Hi is obsessed about finding a bad comment's owner. The bad comments are about the most recent concert performance from XO-IQ. Sun Hi later finds out that the owner of the bad comments is Valerie. Meanwhile, Jared is chosen as assistant student director of the school play because he can command authority over all other students involved in the school play. Jodi and Caleb bond over Jodi's missing designs. They kiss at the end. Caleb kisses Jodi, and she kisses him back.

MacKendrick Preparatory School requires all students to maintain a 3.0 GPA at all times. Corki has a 4.6 GPA. Sun Hi has a 2.99 GPA. Jodi has a 2.5 GPA. Jodi is required to be tutored to raise her GPA to 3.0. Jodi finds out later that her school tutor is Valerie. Jodi successfully raises her GPA to 3.0. Meanhwhile, Jared does not want Valerie to have the lead female role in the school play because she is a terrible actress. Jared asks Corki for help with this problem. Corki reads the student handbook. Corki tells Jared that he has creative control over the school play since he is an assistant student director. Jared demotes Valerie in the school play. Corki is given the lead female role in the school play by Jared.

All other cast members of the school play do not approve of the changes Jared made to the school play. The school play changes Jared made are making Corki the lead female role, casting different parts for all other cast members, changing the story of the school play, giving Corki all the speaking lines and adding a dog as a new character in the school play. All other cast members of the school play quit the school play because they do not like any of the changes. Corki realizes the school play rehearsals she does and the changes made to the school play take up too much of her time and are not good things happening to all other cast members. Corki quits the school play because she wants to spend more time with her friends, focusing on her school work and rehearsing with her band members and their DJ. Meanwhile, after Sun hi starts blogging about their theater arts teacher, the theater arts teacher creates an online profile. The theater arts teacher becomes obsessed with his online profile and has obtained hundreds of online friends. He spends day and night in his work office at the school posting information about himself and his past work achievements. Sun Hi realizes the theater arts teacher became obsessed with his online profile. After several attempts made by Sun Hi to persuade him to stop using his online profile, he comes to his senses to take charge of the school play again and fix the school play to make it even better than it has been before. Caleb and Jodi talk about their kiss. Caleb comes up with new music for the revised school play. Jodi draws new designs of clothing for the revised school play. In the end, the students say Macbeth and the principal gets an idea to try to get her way.

The theater arts teacher does not want any student to say "Macbeth" at the location of where the school play is because he believes the school play will be cursed with many problems. The theater arts teacher tells Sun Hi to twirl 3 times and spit from any place away from the gymnasium to release the curse, which is the location of where the school play is. Meanwhile, the principal of the school wants to build a swimming pool in the gymnasium and eliminate all school plays for future school years. The principal also wants all teachers to be certified in swimming and lifeguard rescue next school year in preparation for the new swimming pool. A TV producer and cameraman come to film a reality TV show at the school, The reality TV show is about the life of the theater arts teacher. Sun Hi is upset that it is not about her. However, Sun Hi take the spotlight away from the theater arts teacher. The TV producer and cameraman now want to film a reality TV show about Sun Hi's life because she is much more interesting and knows how to aggrandize her musical career. Sun Hi later feels empathy for the theater arts teacher. She turns down the offer of a reality TV show about her life. Sun Hi persuades the TV producer and cameraman to film a reality TV show about the theater arts teacher's life because it is his dream to talk about his accomplishments, goals and dreams in his life. Sun Hi later tells Caleb, Corki and Jodi about feeling empathy for the theater arts. The theater arts teacher thanks Sun Hi for her empathy and compassion when he is notified about the reality TV show concerning bis life. The theater arts teacher, Mr. Stark, tells Sun Hi, Jodi and Corki about his offer to perform in a Broadway show in New York, which he has already accepted the offer. Sun Hi, Jodi and Corki first congratulate him on his offer and later are shocked to know he is leaving the school tonight to perform in the Broadway show in New York. Mr. Stark tells the girls he is following his dreams and will not be in charge of the school play anymore. In the end, Jared wants Corki to be in the school play again so they can be together. Valerie sees Jared and Corki kissing in the gymnasium, which makes her jealous of Corki.

Jared saves Corki from the trash ball that falls from the ceiling due to the rope tearing apart. Jared and Corki kiss several more times in the gymnasium. Valerie angrily walks away from outside the gymnasium. The principal of the school announces to all the students in the school that they will be required to participate in egg day. The egg day event is when the school principal assigns a male and a female student together to take care of one or more eggs as a parenting couple for one day. The egg day event teaches student couples the responsibility of being a parent. The school principal tells Corki that there are an odd number of students in the school so that is why she does not have a male student partner. Corki has to take of her assigned egg by herself for one day. Caleb and Jodi are assigned together to take care of one egg for one day. Sun Hi and Dylan are assigned together to take care of four eggs for one day. Valerie and Jared are assigned together to take care of one egg for one day. Meanwhile, Jodi later finds out that Caleb has two egg cartons in his backpack. Caleb tells Jodi that he is clumsy and has broken the egg they were assigned to take care of together. Caleb has replaced the assigned egg with more than one egg from the two egg cartons because several of them have already broken apart. Jodi is angry at Caleb for this. Valerie tries to win Jared over, but all he can think about is Corki. Valerie later reveals to Corki that Jared was in a bet to go out with the new girl of the year, which happen to be Corki. Jared later confirms this. Corki is heartbroken when she is told about the bet Jared made. Corki is consoled by Jodi and Sun Hi. In the end, Jared tries to explain to Corki that it started out as a bet, but he later fell in with her for real. Jared tells Corki he is not asking for her forgiveness, but he still wants to remain friends with her. Valerie, Sun Hi, Dylan, Caleb and Jodi are all in the gymnasium where Jared and Corki are arguing. Caleb and Jodi are also arguing about the egg they are taking care of together. Caleb blurts out the kiss that he had with Jodi. Valerie, Sun Hi, Dylan, Jared and Corki are all surprised to hear this and know that Jodi and Caleb are dating. Jodi forgives Caleb for defending Corki when Valerie insults Corki. Valerie, Sun Hi, Dylan, Jared, Corki, Caleb and Jodi start an egg fight in the gymnasium, where each of them throw eggs at each other. The school principal walks into the gymnasium and is dismayed to see the egg fight in the gymnasium.

18"Love and Detention"April 29, 20151181.11[18]

The school principal punishes Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki, Caleb, Jared and Dylan for the egg fight in the gymnasium by giving the students detention. Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki, Caleb, Jared and Dylan are required to clean the entire gymnasium, scrape all the gum underneath the desks and tables and then wash the desks and tables inside a classroom. The school principal also tells the students inside the gymnasium that the school play will most likely be cancelled when it premieres in three days since it is not yet completed. The school principal monitors Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki, Caleb, Jared and Dylan inside the classroom sporadically and takes away all their cellphones. Valerie manages to talk her way out of cleaning the gymnasium and avoids detention. Jared continues to apologize to Corki for the bet he made and tells her he wants to date her again. Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki, Caleb, Jared and Dylan argue among themselves about the possible school play cancellation and their relationships inside the classroom. Meanwhile, Sun Hi has a backup cellphone to view web clips of the Broadway show titled "Stark Raving Mad." The Broadway show titled "Stark Raving Mad" does not appear to be successful for the theater arts teacher. Valerie suggests to the school principal that the school play should be changed to include her cheer leading squad. The school principal continues to make plans for the swimming pool that will be inside the school next school year. In the end, Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki and Caleb make plans to remove Valerie and her cheer leading squad from the school play.

Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki and Caleb continue to make plans to remove Valerie and her cheer leading spirit squad from the school play. Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki and Caleb want to take charge of the school play's production. Valerie tries to put on her version of the school play with pink costumes, which she wants Jared to star in. Mr. Stark returns from his Broadway show audition in New York. Jared makes a choice about which play he wants to do. Sun Hi writes a new script for a better version of the school play to which everyone including Valerie agrees to. Sun Hi, Jodi, Corki, Caleb Jared, Valerie, Dylan and Mr. Stark worked all day and night to complete the school play's production, costumes, music and rehearsals. Sun Hi, Jodi and Corki dream about the school play and worry whether or not everyone will like it. Everything about the school play is ready for the opening night, and the curtain is about to open.

The play begins as the curtains rises it was going well until Corki saw her father in the audience. This causes her to be nervous and forget her lines. Sun Hi and Jodi try to help her out, but no luck. Soon Jared and Valerie started coming into the play to make sure it doesn't fail. With all else failing the entire crew starts to lose hope. Thanks to Mr. Stark having a heart to heart with everyone their confidences were boosted and continue on with the play. They then wrap up the conclusion of the play with a musical number and bright lights. With a huge applause towards the entire crew, Sun Hi wanted everyone to congratulate Mr. Stark. Backstage, Jodi meets Hye Jung (her fashion idol) was looking for her to return her clothing designs and Hyo Jung offers her an internship and Jodi accepts. The audience wanted an encore but lights and the stage started to fall apart due to the curse of Macbeth. Sun Hi not wanting to lose this opportunity, she moves the play to Club Ry Ri and XO-IQ perform. After the performance, they finally meet the owner of Club Ry Ri, Randy. He is also the friend of Nick Cannon. They meet Nick Cannon and Caleb ends up fainting. Nick is interested in the group and offers to take them on a tour they "accept", but Mr. Chang interferes because he say that he didn't send Corki to MacKendrick Prep abandon schoolwork by going on tour and decides to take her home. Jodi also wants to work with her fashion idol and talks to Caleb about them. Nick sees that there is a problem with the group at the moment and takes his leave (possibly hoping to hear from them again). With all this distress going around, Sun Hi claims that she lost her band and screams.

XO-IQ is the band that was formed in the series by Caleb, Sun Hi, Jodi, and Corki. Vocals for the band’s songs were recorded by Megan Lee, Louriza Tronco, and Erika Tham in Toronto.

The band made its first live appearance at the pre-party for the 2015 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles.[20] The band was introduced at the event by Nick Cannon.
