Major Male pageants

Major Male pageants or Grand Slam Men pageants is a group of the four largest and most famous male international beauty pageants. These are: Manhunt International (1993), Mister World (1996), Mister International (2006) and Men Universe Model (2008). These pageants have been recognized and acknowledged around the globe by pageant fans and websites.[1][2]

The criteria for the Grandslam Men pageant inclusion is based on specific standards such as the pageants global prominence and prestige approved by worldwide media, the quality and quantity of crowned delegates recognized by international franchisees and pageant aficionados, the winner's post pageant activities; the pageants longevity, consistency, and history; the overall pre-pageant activities, production quality; the enormity of internet traffic; and the extent of popularity among pageant fans across the globe.[3]

In 2010, four European countries won the 4 major male pageants- Slovak Republic, Ireland, Great Britain and Bosnia and Herzegovina brought home Manhunt International, Mister World, Mister International and Men Universe Model titles, respectively.

The first and only country to win all four pageants was Venezuela, when it won Mister International 2013.

The pageants

Manhunt International pageant is the oldest surviving major male international beauty pageant. It was created in Singapore in 1993.[4]

Mister World is an annual international male beauty contest that is run by the Miss World Organization. It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1996. The competition is a 2-3 week competition designed to test the candidates in a variety of ways through a series of challenge events, interviews and a final stage show. These challenges test every aspect deemed necessary to be "The World's Most Desirable Man."[5] Since his death in 2000, Morley's wife, Julia Morley, co-chairs the pageant.

Mister International is an annual male pageant organised by the Mister International Organization in 2006. It is the male counterpart of Miss Universe and adopted the motto, "Distinctively Handsome".[6]

Men Universe Model, originally called "Mister Universe Model," is the fourth largest pageant for men in the world after the Manhunt International, Mister International and Mister World. The contest is held since 2008 located in the Dominican Republic by Robert Flores.[7]
