Major Hoople's Boarding House

The Shan-De-Leers was a pop band from Kitchener, Ontario, which included Rocky Howell, Peter Padalino, Gail Selkirk, Dave Lodge, and Rick Riddell.[1] It was later renamed Major Hoople's Boarding House after they hired David Lodge in 1967. The group was named after the long-running comic strip, Our Boarding House. Riddell and Selkirk left the band in 1972, and were replaced by Ed Miller and Peter Beacock. Lodge left the band to concentrate on songwriting and management in 1973 and he was replaced by Keith Stahlbaum. In 1975 Dave Gooding was added on sax. [2]

They performed in the club circuit around Ontario for many years. Major Hoople's Boarding House had a top-30 Canadian radio hit in 1975 with "I'm Running After You".[3]

Major Hoople's Boarding House was known as simply Boarding House after James Leroy was added in 1976.

In 1988 a version was created with Howell leading. The band ended shortly after this time.

A new line-up consisting of Stahlbaum, Miller and Gooding was formed in 2010, along with guitarist Brian Tozer (of Gaslight) and Brad Stahlbaum (keyboards). This version continues to tour today. [4] In 2013 the single "Sunnyside" was released.
