Mahendra Singh (1852-1876) was the Maharaja of Patiala from 1862-1876.

Biography

Mahendra Singh was the son of Narendra Singh,then Maharaja of Patiala. He was a member of the Phulkian Dynasty.Mahendra Singh succeeded as a minor in 1862 and a council of regency ran the government till 1870. During his rule the Maharaja tried to improve the state by funding a new canal, colleges and provided for famine stricken areas. He received the Grand Commander of the Star of India in 1871.^[1]
