Mahboob Alam

Mahbub (or Mahboob) Alam (1863-1933) was an Indian journalist and publisher who lived in Gujranwala. He was a pioneer in South Asian journalism,[1] and in 1888 he founded the daily newspaper Paisa Akhbar (Penny Newspaper), which covered political and social news.[2]

Around 1900 he traveled to Europe by ship.[3] He visited Trieste, Italy and Germany, France and England. During his travels he made detailed observations that were later published in Paisa Akhbar. The articles were later compiled as "Safarnama Europe" or "Ka Yurap".
