Mahares (Arabic: "place for guard"), also known as Mahres or Al Mahres, is a small town in Tunisia with a population of 7,500 which swells up to 16,000 each summer with the return of locals that have immigrated to France, Italy and other Western European countries.

Mahares is known for its tourism. There is a large sandy beach 5 kilometers to the north called Chaffar.

Mahares is about 1000 years old, and includes the Roman structure of Younga, built by the ancient Romans. The town also has the little mosque called Sidi Ahmed Absa.
