Madhupur is a city and a municipality in Deoghar district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is a subdivisional town.
Geography
Madhupur is located at 24°15′N 86°39′E / 24.25°N 86.65°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 228 metres (748 ft). Madhupur is surrounded by two monsoon rivers, Patro Nadi and Jaynti Nadi.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[2] Madhupur had a population of 47,349. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%.
Madhupur has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 54%. In Madhupur, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Dairy Farming
Madhupur is a good quality milk hub since many years. More than 60% milk goes to the near by towns like Giridih, Deoghar, Jamtara, and Asansol. Also the conditions of milkmen in the town is not up to the mark. Madhupur, not being a very large market for all the dairy products, so they are often also sold to the nearby district towns.
Transport
Madhupur Junction is connected by road and rail to metropolitan areas of India. Delhi-Kolkata Main Line via Mugalsarai-Patna route. Giridih district headquarters is connected to the Indian Railway network through the Madhupur-Giridih Local train on the Madhupur Giridih Rail Line. It is well connected by road from Giridih and Deoghar.
Politics
Falls under Godda Constituency and madhupur itself is a legislative assembly area (seat).
