Macrophilia

Macrophilia is a fascination with or a sexual fantasy involving giants, more commonly expressed as giantesses (female giants).[1] The fantasy typically involves one or more larger beings dominating a smaller being. Many fantasies include the macrophile shrinking before a normal sized woman or keeping his or her normal height while the partner grows in size.[2] Others involve partners who naturally have a significant difference in size.

Interest

Although macrophilia literally translates to simply a "lover of large,"[1] in the context of a sexual fantasy it is used to mean someone who's attracted to beings larger than themselves. Generally, interest differs between people, and gender depends on sexual orientation. They often enjoy feeling small and being abused, degraded, dominated, or eaten,[3] and they may also view female giants as being powerful and dominating.

Commenting on why there are not as many female macrophiles, psychologist Helen Friedman theorized that because women in most societies already view men as dominant and powerful, there's no need for them to fantasize about it.[1] Women that take on the roles of the giantess within this fetish often find the practice to be empowering and enjoy being worshiped.[3][4]

The actual height of the giantess within the fantasy may vary depending on the individual. While some fantasize about a giantess who is slightly taller than himself, others are interested in giantesses that are hundreds or even thousands of feet tall.[5]

Macrophilia generally features two types of giantess: gentle and aggressive. The gentle giantess is far less common and typically has her simply interacting with humans in a kindly manner. The far more common type of giantess is of the aggressive or violent variety. This kind of giantess enjoys tormenting humans and is often shown eating them alive or stepping on them. For some reason, the giantess usually eats/stomps men, though there are very rare instances where she will be seen eating women as well.

Media and experience

The internet has played an important role in helping to develop the fetish.[1] Because this fantasy is purely fictional, macrophilia media generally takes the form of artwork, collages created using Photoshop, photographs taken from a low angle (also known as a "point of view" shot) or amateur videos of giantess trampling and destroying model cities.[2] The act of a giantess trampling or crushing smaller objects with their feet often ties the fetish together with the crush fetish, and the controversial crush videos.[6] There also existed an exhibit at the Museum of Sex titled "Kink: Geography of the Erotic Imagination" which explored many different fantasies, including macrophilia.[7][8]

Oftentimes macrophiles will find satisfaction in mainstream media portrayals of giantess, whether or not that material was intentionally meant to appeal to them or not. Some notable examples include Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman and Monsters vs Aliens where the female protagonists of each film grow to incredible size, the ending of Dude, Where's My Car? which has five attractive female aliens that merge into a giantess that swallows one of the male characters before going on a rampage, and the music video for Miserable by the band Lit that has the band playing the song on and around a 60 ft tall Pamela Anderson who at the end of the video chases down the band members and eats them alive.

One way in which it is possible to experience the fetish in real life is with extraordinarily tall women who refer to themselves as amazons—after the mythological Greek warriors. An amazon, such as the 6 ft 4in Mikayla Miles who stands just under 7 ft in her fetish boots, will schedule private sessions with macrophiles to engage in non-sexual interaction such as: trampling, lifting and carrying, foot worshiping, roleplaying and domination.[3] An annual rally known as the Amazon Convention (or AmazonCon for short) gathers a selection of tall women to network with other amazons and to meet and greet their admirers.[9]
