History

Macon County High School was established in the late 1950s in Montezuma, Georgia, as a white school. Although the years of segregation had ended, the predominantly black D.F. Douglass high school still remained open across town. In the later 1990s to early 2000, D.F. Douglass was closed and its students were sent to Macon County High School.

The first principal of Macon County High School was Carl S. Peaster, and the principal now is Dr. Rickey Edmond.
