The MV Safmarine Asia is a ship that was unsuccessfully attacked by Somali pirates 14 April 2009.[1] A French frigate, the Nivôse, responded to the vessel's distress call, and in the process, found and arrested 11 Somali pirates.[2] There are plans to try them for piracy in Kenya.[3] They were landed at Mombasa for trial in Kenya on 22 April 2009.[4]
