Foundation

The company's owner, president, chairman and CEO is Dario O. Marquez, Jr., a former distinguished United States Secret Service agent and other two former agents co-founded MVM in 1979.

History

In the 1980s, MVM was awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of State to supply Cleared American Guards (CAG) to U.S. embassies throughout the world. Following the 1991 Haitian coup d'état and subsequent reinstatement of Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in 1994, MVM became the first private American firm to protect a foreign head of state in his own homeland.

Following the September 11th attacks, MVM received contracts from the United States Army and the U.S. Justice Department. MVM continues to work on these growing contracts.

Contracts

MVM currently holds multiple multi-million dollar contracts with the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal Protective Service, U.S. Marshals Service, and other U.S. federal agencies.

Controversy

The company has been accused of allegedly mismanagement of its firearms and inventories, using improper procedures, and lacking proper equipment.[1] It was also sued by a former employee, Dave Boone, for wrongful termination, following a disputed report of an attack.[1] The CIA has also opened their contract for re-bidding, following the firm's alleged inability to supply sufficient numbers of qualified personnel.[1] On February 15, 2008, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado entered an Order granting MVM's motion for summary judgment, and dismissed all of Mr. Boone's claims against MVM with prejudice. The District Court also entered an Order against Mr. Boone on March 5, 2008 directing him to pay $3707.17 to MVM representing the costs the Company incurred in filing their motion. Mr. Boone appealed the District Court's decision to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit on March 11, 2008. The Tenth Circuit affirmed the District Court's decision, and denied Mr. Boone's appeal, on July 10, 2009.
