MTELP
The MTELP is a test given to college level students who did not grow up speaking English, or spoke English and another language, typically Spanish. MTELP, which stands for Michigan Test of English Language, is developed and administered by CaMLA. Reasons people are excluded from taking this test include completion of 24 credits at another U.S school, or completion of an associates degree or higher.[1] The test's main purpose is to assess English skills.
The test
The test is composed of 100 items and is divided into three parts:[2]
- Grammar—There are 40 grammar questions.
- Vocabulary—There are 40 vocabulary items.
- Reading comprehension—There are 20 reading items.
The person taking the test is given 75 minutes to complete it.
