MIT Robocon Tech team is a Group of 28 engineering students of Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune from branches like E&TC, IT, Mechanical, Civil, Petrochem. They work systematically for a year before the competition Robocon India.

MIT Tech Team have represented India 4 times on international platform ABU Robocon in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013. That makes 4 times in last 6 years and 3 wins in last 4 years. It is the only team to play semifinals of national event consistently from 2007.

Team Structure

Team can be broadly classified into three groups according to their major contribution to team irrespective of their engineering curriculum.

Electronics Team

Circuit boards designing and development for different peripherals like LCD, keypad, encoders, sensors, h-bridge, motors, etc. Mostly they work with atmega1280, atmega32, atmega8 microcontrollers. The prominent team members in past couple of years are Prashant Konaje,Abhishek Desai from the hardware team and Sidharth Kulkarni , Monica Roman from the coding team.

Mech Team

As per problem statement machines are designed Catia, ProE followed by 3D simulation. This helps in calculating total weight and thus appropriate material for fabrication could be selected. Machine stability could also be predicted.

Different fabrication methods used by team are:

The active participation in CAD Designing of the robots was analysed by Shreekant Patnaik and Vivek Gupta. The hydraulics systems and their mechanisms were skillfully handled by Amarjeet Singh and Rajlaxami Bajpai in past couple of years.

Coding Team

Coding team has developed many libraries for various applications. They have also developed traction control and various navigation systems.

History

Robocon India 2013

2013 Roboon India

The Theme for Robocon 2013 declared by Vietnam, "Green Planet". It was won by MIT Tech Team from MIT Pune.

This year team developed and used new holonomic drive system. Team used Mecanum wheel for manual and Omni wheel for auto robots. Which gave team advantage over other teams. there were many other new superior technologies used by team.

The National Robotic Contest for 2013 was conducted by MIT Academy of Engineering from 7 to 9 March 2013. The event was amply covered and broadcast by Doordarshan (Prasar Bharati of India).

Robocon India 2012

The Theme for Robocon 2012 declared by Hong Kong, "Peng On Dai Gat". It was won by MIT Tech Team from MIT Pune.[1] Robots faced some issues on the first two days of event. Robot main controller was getting reset. Bug was later identified and rectified.

MIT tech team had the fastest Manual robot with 5.5sec token time. Machines speeds were reduced with fastest time in the match was 1min 12sec whereas lab timings were 1min 04sec.

ABU Robocon Hong Kong 2012

Team beat China in preliminary rounds and qualified to quarters. MIT Tech Team became the first Indian team to complete theme in international Robocon. MIT Tech Team made very little structural changes to their machines. Lot of efforts were put on making robots reliable. Lab timing were 52sec with reliability of 96%.

Robocon India 2011

The Theme for Robocon 2011 declared by Thailand was Krathong, Lighting Happiness with Friendship.

The winner was Institute of Technology, Nirma University coming from Ahmedabad.

MIT Tech Team introduced pneumatics for the first time in Robocon India history

Robocon India 2010

Robocon 2010 Winner: MIT, Pune

The Theme for Robocon 2010 declared by Egypt was Robo-Pharaohs Build Pyramids. It was won by MIT Tech Team from MIT Pune.[2]

MIT Tech Team didn't lose a single game in entire event. And cumulative score was higher than sum of all the other teams together.
