Mahalingam Kanagalingam Shivajilingam is a Sri Lankan Tamil politician and former Member of Parliament.
Political career
At the December 2001 Shivajilingam was elected to represent the Jaffna District in Parliament.[1] He was subsequently re-elected at the April 2004 parliamentary election.[2]
In 2010 Shivajilingam left Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization (TELO) and Tamil National Alliance (TNA). He subsequently formed the Tamil National Liberation Alliance (TNLA) with other dissident members of the TNA.[3] He stood as one of the TNLA candidates in Jaffna District in the April 2010 parliamentary election. The TNLA failed to win any seats in Parliament. In June 2011 TNLA was dissolved and Shivajilingam rejoined TELO and TNA.[4]
Presidential candidate
Shivajilingam contested the 2010 presidential election as an independent candidate. He came ninth after securing 9,662 votes (0.09%).[5]
