M. H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering

M. H. Saboo Siddik(commonly known as MHSS or Saboo Siddik or Saboo) is an engineering college located in Byculla at Saboo Siddik Polytechnic Road, Mumbai, India.

The institute is located at Byculla. It is equi-distant of about 1.5 km from Mumbai Central Railway Station on Western Railway and Byculla Railway on Central Railway as well as Dockyard Road Station and Sandhurst Road Station on the Harbour Line of the Central Railway.

MHSS is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.[1] The courses are recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE). It is 'A' Grade Institution, Accredited by NBA, AICTE and has a staff strength of about 154 (57-teaching, 97-non-teaching). The student strength is about 1200.

History

The Mohammed Haji Saboo Siddik Institute (A Muslim Minority Institution) owes its existence to the munificence of late Mohammed, son of Haji Saboo Siddik, who bequeathed a large sum of money for establishing, conducting and managing this Institution for imparting Vocational, Technical and Industrial training and education. The value of the assets, so bequeathed, exceeded Rupees Three Crore at the time of donation. The Institution is managed and administrated by the Anjuman-i-Islam as the sole trustee, appointed by the Bombay High Court's decree and scheme framed and sanctioned thereunder.

The very well laid out college building accommodates workshops, laboratories, classrooms, lecture halls, drawing halls, students' common room, seminar hall, library, reading-rooms, offices, etc. with modern facilities. The College is accommodated in an exclusively newly constructed spacious ground plus five floors building. The library of the College is housed in a separate newly constructed building and is furnished with reference section and reading-rooms for students and staff. A very sophisticated Seminar Hall furnished with the most modern equipment was inaugurated by Dr. Raja Ramanna, an eminent scientist of our country, on the annual day celebrations on 9 April 2001. A spacious and well-furnished cafeteria is also operative in the campus.

It has won a international competition held in texas,usa.While one team won the first prize globally at the Aero Design in Micro Class SAE Aero Design West Micro Class 2014, another team emerged as the top winner from Asia in the Advanced Class contest,The competition was held at Fortworth, Texas, United States, from March 28-30,2014. The team consisted of Sanjay Kumar (Faculty), Adith Ajayan (Captain), Abdul Kadir Poonawala, Imran Merchant, Hussain Shaikh, Muzammil Sarkhot, Darpan Agarwal, Afsan Gujarati and Sharang Biradar, from the automobile engineering stream.

The college Library has a good collection of books.
