Lypusidae is an obscure family of moths traditionally conssidered monotypic (containing only the genus Lypusa with two species) and belonging in the primitive moth superfamily Tineoidea.

Recent research suggests shown that Lypusa is actually so closely related to Amphisbatis the type genus of the gelechioid subfamily Amphisbatinae (or family Amphisbatidae) that these groups could be merged. What name would apply to the combined group Amphisbatidae, Amphisbatinae, Lypusidae or Lypusinae remains to be seen.[1]
