Lynn Boylan (born 29 November 1976) is an Irish Member of the European Parliament for Dublin, representing Sinn Féin. She is chair of the food safety promotion board, Safefood. She was elected in May 2014 with 83,264 first-preference votes.[1]

Biography

Boylan grew up in the Kilnamanagh area of Tallaght.[2] Initially studying journalism and gaining a certificate, she went on to earn post-graduate qualifications from University College Dublin in Environmental Impact Assessment and European Environmental Conservation Management.[2]

She moved to County Kerry in 2005 while working as a coordinator for the Irish Wildlife Trust at Killarney National Park. That same year she joined Sinn Féin and stood unsuccessfully for the party in the general election in the Kerry South constituency,[3] before moving back to Dublin in 2011.[2][4] She also ran for local election in South Kerry obtaining 323 first-preference votes.[5]
