Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz

Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz is a private preparatory school and international boarding school located in the village of Zuoz in the Engadin valley in Switzerland. The school is at an altitude of 1750 meters (5800 feet) above sea level, not far from St.Moritz.

Organisation and History

The Lyceum includes an elementary school (5th & 6th grades). The high school curriculum includes preparation for the Swiss Matura and the German Abitur in German, the bilingual Swiss Matura in German and English and the International Baccalaureate in English.

The Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz was founded in 1904 by five visionaries from the Engadin, the "Institut Engiadina", as it was then called, had 22 students in its first year. Today, about two hundred boarding students between 12 and 18 years of age from around the world and 100 day students from the Engadine follow the acadmic programmes.

Theatre

There are two theatre companies. The German-speaking Shakespeare Company, established in 2006, who focuses on the work of William Shakespeare and the English-speaking English Theatre Company who takes on the challenge of approaching some of the great classics of English literature. Opened in 2011 the Zuoz Globe is the only permanent theatre in the Engadine.

The Zuoz Club

The "Zuoz Club" is the Alumni Association of the Lyceum Alpinum.
