History

The company was founded in 1991 under the name E.S.C. – Energy Systems Corporation Ltd. However, in 2001, after the acquisition of an Israeli company ESC Medical Systems, and American Coherent Medical Group for $203 million. Due to problems with the financial statements in 2004, the company shares were removed from quotation on the stock exchange NASDAQ.[5] In 2006, in exchange for an investment of $120 million, 75% of Lumenis stakes were sold to two private Israeli companies, LM Partners LP and Ofer Hi-Tech Group.

In February 2014, under new management, Lumenis went public again by listing on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the symbol "LMNS".[6]
