Lucas Fernando Palacios

Don Lucas Fernando Palacios y Valenzuela (?? - 1761/1762) was a military that exerced as governor of La Florida (21 April 1758 - 6 December 1761).

Lucas Fernando Palacios was named Knight of the Order of Alcantara, Commander of the Order of Calatrava. He joined in his youth to the Spanish Royal Army as Cadet, reaching, eventually, the ranks of Field Marshal and Captain. In addition, he served also in the Spanish Guards Regiment, obtaining securities ever higher.

In 21 April 1758, he was appointed Royal Governor of Florida. [1] During his government in Florida, the - in this time - Spanish province saw a population growth with the send - for the Spanish crown - of Spanish settler groups that hailed from Canary Island (send that begun in 1757 and would extend for 47 years), whose goal was the repopulation of the region, in much part, depopulated.[2]

In late 1761, he fought against certain Indigenous peoples, when he decided to face them, being killed by them [3] in 6 December 1761, while still ruled Florida. [1]
