The Lower Manair Dam also known as LMD was constructed across the Manair River, at Alugunur Village, Thimmapur mandal, Karimnagar District, Telangana during 1974 to 1985. The project is located at 18°24' N latitude and 79° 20' E longitude in Karimnagar District @ Km.146 of Kakatiya Canal. The project serves as a balancing reservoir for Kakatiya Canal and regulates flow below LMD for an ayacut of 5,65,452 Acres. It is also serves as Drinking water source to Karimnagar town and also Warangal town. The Gross Storage capacity up to FRL 920 Ft. was 24.074 TMC. The catchment area of project is 6648 Sq. km.
