Lower Cape Fear Hospice

Lower Cape Fear Hospice is a non-profit agency founded by Dr. Daniel Gottovi in 1980 in Wilmington, North Carolina.[1] It is an institution that provides end of life care to the terminally ill.[2] There are now approximately 150 employees and 325 active volunteers. Care provided by LCFH has spread and now has locations in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender Counties. Over 17,000 patients have been served.

History

The first patient, admitted on July 1, 1980 was Sandy Morgan, a 27-year-old nurse.[3] At this time there were only a few employees and about 200 volunteers.

"The mission of Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter is to provide the highest level of care and comfort to patients with life-limiting illness, support and counseling to families, and education to the community."[1]
