Route description

From the south, LA 73 began at an intersection with LA 1, running north along Bayou Poydras. LA 73 crossed the new Airline Highway to meet LA 30 near Erwinville. LA 73 served as a connector road, allowing drivers to bypass the curvy River Road and take LA 1 directly into Baton Rouge.
