Louisiana State Route 53 (LA 53) was a state highway in Louisiana. It spanned 4.51 miles (7.26 km), making it one of the shortest pre-1955 state routes. It later served as a portion of US 51.

Route description

"Leave Route 1 at Ory, and connect with Route 33 near Frenier." - 1924 Louisiana Legislative Route Description

LA 53 started at an intersection with LA 1, also known as River Road, in the town of Laplace. It turned northeast, passing through the new alignment of Airline Highway, swapping the US 51 designation with LA 33. It was a short and unimportant route for its life, and was eventually truncated to the mainline US 51 designation. The old section of LA 53 became LA 1141.

Major intersections

The entire highway is in St. John the Baptist Parish.
