Louisiana Highway 971 (LA 971) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves Pointe Coupee Parish. It spans 3.87 miles (6.23 km).

Route description

From the south,LA 971 begins at an intersection with LA 418, actually a bypassed alignment of LA 1. Sometime in the 1930s, LA 1 was realigned again to follow the current route from Simmesport to Lettsworth, but turned southeast via LA 971 to bypass the loop along the levees. LA 1 was realigned a final time to its current corridor for the construction of the Morganza Spillway in 1938.

LA 971 formerly connected to LA 1 via a semi-abandoned alignment, which is seen continuing straight when LA 971 curves to the left.

LA 971 is an undivided, two-lane road for its entire route. Before the 1955 Louisiana Highway renumbering, LA 971 was signed as State Route 30, and later as State Route 30F.

Major intersections

The entire highway is in Pointe Coupee Parish.
