Louisiana Highway 648 (LA 648) is a state highway that serves Terrebonne and Lafourche Parishes. It spans a total of 2.3 miles (3.7 km)[1] along Percy Brown Road.
Route description
From the southwest, LA 648 begins at an intersection with LA 20 in Schriever and heads east along Percy Brown Road, crossing from Terrebonne Parish into Lafourche Parish. It immediately turns to the northeast and briefly passes through the southeast corner of Thibodaux. At the end of its route, LA 648 intersects LA 1, crosses a bridge over Bayou Lafourche, and reaches its northeastern terminus at LA 308 just east of Thibodaux. LA 1 and LA 308 travel along opposite banks of the bayou.
LA 648 is an undivided, two-lane highway for its entire length.
History
Before its recent re-routing, LA 648 turned northwest onto Acadia Road in Thibodaux and headed back to a terminus at LA 20, existing as a short loop off of that highway. The remainder of Percy Brown Road northeast to LA 1 and LA 308 was LA 648 Spur. LA 648 was moved onto the spur route, now deleted, and the remainder of former LA 648 became a local road.
