Louisiana Highway 541 (LA 541) is a state highway that serves Jefferson Parish. LA 541 is known as River Road except for brief sections in Westwego and Harvey where it is known as Labauve Drive and Destrehan Avenue, respectively. It spans 9.7 miles (15.6 km) in a west to east direction.[1]
Route description
From the west, LA 541 begins at an intersection with LA 18 (River Road) in Avondale and runs northerly toward the Mississippi River past the Avondale Shipyards to Bridge City. Shortly before intersecting Bridge City Avenue, LA 541 turns northeasterly to run alongside the Mississippi River and eventually passes under the Huey P. Long Bridge. At Nine Mile Point, it turns south with the river toward Westwego.
Entering Westwego, LA 541 intersects LA 18 at Seven Oaks Boulevard (formerly Bridge City Avenue and Old Spanish Trail), beginning a concurrency that lasts until LA 18 turns south onto Louisiana Street. LA 541 continues through Westwego as Labauve Drive alongside Salaville, Westwego's historic district. Leaving Westwego, it travels eastward as River Road and intersects LA 560-1 a short distance from the northern terminus of LA 45 (both known as Barataria Boulevard). Upon reaching the Harvey Canal, LA 541 turns southward onto Destrehan Avenue (formerly Old Ferry Road) to its end at LA 18 (4th Street) in Harvey.
LA 541 is an undivided, two-lane highway for its entire length.
