Louisiana Highway 1263 (LA 1263) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves West Feliciana Parish. It spans 1.88 miles (3.03 km) in a west to east direction.

Route description

Louisiana Highway 1263 at its western terminus, just north of the old ferry landing. It is signed in error as LA 1258.

The LA 1263 designation was created in 2011 following the retirement of the New Roads – St. Francisville Ferry and the opening of the John James Audubon Bridge. Before the bridge opened, the length of LA 1263 carried LA 10.

When LA 1263 was originally created, it was signed as LA 1258. However, this is an error and all signs still posted are incorrect. Online DOTD highway maps show the route as LA 1263, not LA 1258.[1][2]

From the west, LA 1263 begins as a state highway at dead end at the Mississippi River. It heads north as a two-lane, paved road. The first shield (signed LA 1258) is posted just north of the old ferry landing.

Once LA 1263 enters St. Francisville, it passes through the historic district, which includes the West Feliciana Parish Courthouse and old churches.

LA 1263 ends abruptly at an intersection with US 61 Business/LA 3057.

Major intersections

The entire highway is in West Feliciana Parish.
