Louisiana Highway 123 (LA 123) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves Grant Parish. It spans 15.94 miles (25.65 km) in a southwest-to-northeast direction. Although the odd-numbered highway should be signed in a north–south direction, it is signed in an east-west direction.
Route description
From the southwest, LA 123 begins as a state highway at an intersection with LA 8 east of Colfax. It heads northeast and passes through the town of Dry Prong, where the speed limit drops to 35 miles per hour (56 km/h). It intersects LA 122, which travels north to Verda and Montgomery.
After LA 123 meets LA 122, it meets US Highway 167 (US 167) at a caution light; US 167 travels north to Winnfield, and south to Alexandria. LA 123 then becomes a curvy, dangerous road from its intersection with US 167 until Breezy Hill.
There, it meets LA 524, the older alignment of US 165. It then ends less than a mile away at the current US 165.
LA 123 is an undivided, two-lane highway for its entire length. Before the 1955 renumbering, LA 123 was State Route 617.
Major intersections
The entire highway is in Grant Parish.
