Louisiana Highway 122 (LA 122) is a state highway in Louisiana that serves Grant Parish. It spans 26.1 miles (42.0 km) in a northwest-to-southeast direction. The highway is also concurrent with LA 471 for a short distance.
Route description
From the northwest, LA 122 begins at an intersection with LA 1239-1 and US 71 in the town of Montgomery. It heads southeast and passes through the small community of Hargis. LA 122 meets LA 1240 at an intersection close to Verda Elementary School, in the town of Verda.
In Verda, LA 122 meets LA 471, a road that travels from US 71 through Verda to the town of Atlanta. LA 122 is paired with LA 471 through the entire town of Verda; the two highways split from one another south of the town.
LA 122 curves to the south toward Iatt Lake, passing the lake to the east. It arrives at LA 123 in the town of Dry Prong.
LA 122 is an undivided, two-lane highway for its entire length. Before the 1955 renumbering, LA 122 was State Route 475. The road used to curve off towards the current US 167 along Landfill Road (Parish Road 11), the former State Route 162. This attributes to the jagged and rugged feel of LA 122 south of PR 11.
Major intersections
The entire highway is in Grant Parish.
