Los Navegantes (Spanish: Villa Los Navegantes; literally translated to English as The Navigators Neighborhood, or Village) is a residential neighbourhood, located in southeastern Pichilemu, Chile, near the Municipal Stadium, and La Cruz Hill.[1] Los Navegantes boasts an area of approximately 1.5 square kilometres (0.58 sq mi), and was founded in 1996.

History

The village was founded in 1996, after 5 years constructing approximately thirty houses. It is the first neighborhood in Pichilemu that was founded in the 1990s.

There was some controversy between the neighborhood's authorities and SERVIU, when the latter occupied Los Navegantes' little stadium. It was finally given to the Municipality of Pichilemu on June 8, 2007.[2]

Demographics

The neighborhood has an estimated population of 200. The majority of the adults in the neighborhood are teachers or laborers in the municipality.

Administration

The neighborhood has a local administration body denominated junta de vecinos (group of neighbors). The junta de vecinos is presided over by María Urzúa Orellana.[3]
